As I await the melodic tune of this familiar march, I wanted to take the time to bid my final farewells and make wishes for your future successes and happiness. The meetings have ceased, events have ended, and the torch has been passed down to incredible individuals. I cannot help but be reflective at this moment, and looking back I can say that it has been a blast!
I will always remember the dead fishes at the campus carnival, the Halloween costume contest gone awry, mother nature ruining all our plans, (broken chairs), and the creepy cabin that strangely feels like home!
To anyone interested in AMA, join! I have met great people, made many valuable contacts, and I leave with remarkable friendships. Current members, it has been great getting to know you all. Continue your dedication to AMA and take advantage of all the opportunities available.
To the executive board members I have been lucky enough to work with; I thank you for the great memories. It has been a rollercoaster of ups and downs, good times and bad, but every moment was AMAzing! (I had to)
AMA on 3!

Hello AMA'ers,
Its the home stretch before schools over and I wanted to take the time to reflect on the semester and my overall time in AMA. With elections looming, I thought it would be great to give you my first hand experience so to spark interest in you to run for a position.
I began AMA 4 years ago, I was a general member for 3 semesters and then came onto the eboard in Spring '08 as your VP of Careers and placement. I have seen this club grow and expand from 40 members when I first joined to averaging over 200 members per semester over the past 2 1/2 years.
Being a member and getting actively involved is so great because time and time again, I have met people in the business community, including past speakers who have said that they were AMA members. These connections will help you professionally. I used a connection through our AMA mixer and spent 6 months interning at the Union Tribune in consumer marketing, the stuff I learned and the people I met have helped me immensly.
I cannot stress enough the importance of becoming an active participant in AMA and running for a position. I have made lifelong friends, learned valuable skills as a leader, and bettered myself in the process. I attribute my success to AMA. I have seen AMA win multiple accolades and awards, increase membership, have successful networking events where members get internships, and give students hands on experience.
Being on the executive board is a great experience, you make invaluable connections with both fellow exec board members, business leaders and general members.
Last semester, when Target came to speak, the recruiter told me, "I love this club its full of dedicated students." It goes to show you dedication and leadership definitely pay off.
With elections only 4 weeks away, I ask you to take a look at the positions and run.
Sincerely,
Chad Teichman

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to write about how great this semester has been. It's crazy to think that it's almost over, but there is still so much to be done.
This semester I planned the Professional Mixer. It was one of the best experiences I've had while being in AMA, and I was so glad that it went so well. The companies that attended had so much to offer, the food was very tasty, and it was great to see so many members there (especially since it was the day after spring break). I want to thank everyone that was involved for all of their help in making the mixer such a successful event.
Of course, there is always a lot of hard work and stress that goes in to planning an event like this. It was very tough at times, but it was all worth it. It is now something that I can bring up in interviews, tell my friends about, and reflect on in the future.
I highly encourage AMA members to consider running for this position for the upcoming semester. You will not regret the incredible things you will learn. While being the VP of Careers and Placement, you will be able to network with top companies, learn how to organize your time and priorities, and see all of your hard work turn into an amazing finished product.
Thank again you to all of my fellow AMA members and board members for all of your help. It has been a great semester and I can't wait to see what AMA comes up with next!

I seriously need to take a step back and realize how fast this semester is going by. I honestly have no complaints about AMA's Bonfire this past weekend. Such a GRRREAT turnout! I am proud of all the members who made it out to come hang with us. I really hope other members feel the same. Honestly, I am really growing attached to AMA. It's like my widdle babyyyy. I have seen it grow so much since I first joined and cannot begin to explain how excited I am to see it grow in the future.
There wasn't really a point for this blog. I mostly wanted to say how much I enjoyed everyone's company at the bonfire and how proud I am of AMA and it's members. You guys ROCK! =)
From the Depths of My Heart,
I bid you Adieu.
Brian Cordova!

Hello all,
So its coming up on Christmas time, and we need to start thinking about how to make the less fortunate kids at the Monarch school happy for the holidays! If you are interested in donating any presents to them let me know and I can give you a detailed list of the things they need. Here are a few ideas if you would like to bring anything to the upcoming meetings. Target and AMC gift cards (Target $20 or so, and two AMC movie tickets). Undies and socks for boys and girls ages 7-18. Those are the most vital ones on the list. But if you would like more info, please click the link below to view a PDF of some ideas.
Monarch School Donations
Thanks,
-Selena

Hello everyone,
I thought I should blog about my thoughts on how AMA has improved professional networking for many of our members including myself. Last semester I was your VP of Careers and Placement and it was my job to help you to attain internships and jobs. I was amazed to hear that many of our members got both internships and jobs last semester through AMA connections.
While classroom speaking and recruiting, I had a member come up to me and say that they had gained an internship through Target making over 14 dollars an hour. It was at our professional mixer that this happened. We have had plenty of companies in the past come to our meetings and mixers to give internship and job opportunities inlcuding Dlush, Frito Lay, Pepsi, Sony, 91x, Gallo Wines, Northwestern Mutual and Aflac just to name a few. In fact four AMA members got summer internships at 91x radio over the summer through AMA and they said it was a really great experience.
I, myself, am interning at the San Diego Union Tribune, an internship that I got through AMA. I have learned so much and am gaining great real world experience. I have had the privelege of working on new products and websites that the UT has launched. I am in charge of helping to create brand awareness for our sdBackyard website, which is an innovative new website that is entirely user generated. It is a great place to connect with neighbors as well as find out local news. Content published on the website has a chance to be published in a print edition that is delivered with the newspaper on Fridays.
It just goes to show you that if you are an active member you too can take advantage of all that AMA has to offer. Networking is one aspect of AMA, we also offer great community service and social activities.
I just thought I should spotlight this. Get excited for the rest of the semester's speakers, they are from big name companies and they usually bring great internship opportunities.
We have Davis Elen Advertising, Kodak, Ford Automotive Group, and Sony coming just to name a few.
I encourage you to join, and be an active members, who knows it might lead to a great job or internship opportunity.
I also encourage you to leave comments describing jobs or internships that you got through being an AMA member.

The first meeting was incredible! I have never seen so many new members before. Thank you all so much for being interested in AMA and showing up. I hope you all take advantage of all the great things AMA has to offer, especially the committee's. I can not stress the committees enough and how great they look on resumes.
This semester definitely got kicked-off right. I am looking forward to meeting every single one of you! YAY AMA!
By the way, give it up for Brian Cordova your VP of Fundraising for the great song he created for AMA.
Such a good day.

Hello All,
Who else is excited for the upcoming school year to begin?!
...*cricket*...
...Well I am! I hope everyone had an A.M.A.zing summer thus far! I know I did. While other contributors of this blog were out exploring other countries, I took the time and spent 3 weeks exploring this country! I traveled (by car) from New Orleans, Louisiana all the way back to SD. I saw Elvis' house in Memphis, and watched the Cubs play in Chi-Town. I hiked with bears in Wyoming and sipped my drink days later in a resort swimming pool in Vegas.
Unforgettable Summer, yet I am ready to make an even more unforgettable upcoming semester with all the cool things AMA has to offer!
Who ELSE is ready for the Price is Right show!? I plan on making my Network Television Debut and snatching some pocket cash along the way!
Well, I am still unsure if this blog will even post on AMA's site, but let's hope for the best, shall we?
Until next time,
Brian Andrew Cordova

I have been studying at Oxford University with Dr. Stoddard (from SDSU) for the past four weeks. I am taking an international politics course and I have been enjoying listening to famous lecturers like Sir Roger Bannister, the first man to ever run the four minute mile and Dr. LeMay, Winston Churchill's WWII speech writer. I have honestly learned more at Oxford in four weeks than I did in my two semesters of Political Science classes at SDSU. There is so much history here at Oxford (it is the oldest university in the world) that I am learning new facts simply by walking around the city.
Other than attending class every day, I have visited London, Portsmouth, Windsor, Dublin and Paris. At the end of this week, I will also being visiting Edinburgh, Scotland and multiple cities in Italy including Florence, Tuscany, Venice, Rome and Pompeii. Adam, your VP of Finance will be accompanying me on these trips as well!
My all time favorite part of this trip was my tour inside Buckingham Palace, the full time residence of the Queen of England in London. I walked through the room where Prince William was baptized and the room where the Queen's secret door (leading into her apartment) is hidden. My favorite part of the palace was the ballroom, which for the first time was set up for a State Banquet. I am so happy I got to experience this because the Palace is only open two months out of the year, and I'm not sure if I will ever have the chance to see it again.
Although I love San Diego and miss everyone from home, I do not want to leave Europe! I am so happy I had the opportunity to study in such a beautiful, history-filled city and I know I will return to Oxford some time in the future. I can't wait to tell you all more about my trip at our first AMA meeting!
