The Executive Board shall consist of a faculty advisor and thirteen student officers. The Development Team shall consist of two directors working independently on marketing projects.
The officers shall be as follows:

* The positions of President, Executive Vice President, Vice President of Finance, and Vice President of Programming shall be elected by a secret ballot with a majority vote of the General Members.
The Election Process
To be eligible for office, candidates must be regularly enrolled students at San Diego State University and show a dedication to the collegiate chapter of the American Marketing Association at San Diego State University.
The Executive Board shall be elected at the last meeting of each semester.
The positions of President, Executive Vice President, Vice President of Finance, and Vice President of Programming shall be elected by a secret official ballot with a majority vote of the General Members who are present at the time of elections.
The positions of President, Executive Vice President, and Vice President of Finance are only open to those who have served at least one semester as an officer in the American Marketing Association at San Diego State University, unless there are special circumstances such as an insufficient number of returning board members to fill the positions. Only under the special circumstances will regular members be allowed to run for those positions.
Before running for the positions of President, Executive Vice President, and Vice President of Finance, candidates must be approved to run by winning more than a two-thirds majority vote if a challenge is presented from the current Executive Board and Development team.
The remaining positions shall be appointed by the newly elected President and Executive Vice President after an interview process.
The term of office shall begin immediately after elections and end after the crossover meeting with newly elected officers for the next semester.
Any officer who fails to fulfill the terms of their office or their required responsibilities will be removed following a review by the Executive Board and his peers.
Duties of the Executive Board
President
The duties of the President shall be the liaison between the Chapter and faculty advisor as well as between the Chapter and the Association. The President presides at all meetings, prepares and submits the Chapter Plan and Annual Report to the Association, oversees committee and chapter operations, and is the chairperson of the Executive Board. Additional duties include maintaining relationships with other clubs and organizations.
Executive Vice President
The duties of the Executive Vice President shall be to assume the responsibilities of the President in his/her absence at all functions. The Exec VP attends all ABSC meetings unless otherwise appointed by the President due to a scheduling complication. Coordinates the scheduling and booking of events, keeping track of officer reports, and prepares and submits relevant information for the Chapter Plan and Annual Report. The Exec VP is the chairperson of the Development Team and must be actively engaged in the development and implementation of the marketing plans; and must therefore attend half of each director’s committee meetings.
Vice President of Finance
The duties of the VP of Finance shall be to collect all collegiate chapter dues, donations, and any funds relate to the AMA at San Diego State University while working closely with the VP of Membership, VP of Fundraising, and the President. Other duties include: preparing a chapter budget, monitoring disbursements of funds, keeping record of the collegiate chapter finances, scheduling chapter fundraisers, and preparing the sponsorship letter to be distributed to potential sponsors.
Vice President of Fundraising
The duties of the VP of Fundraising shall be to generate money by developing fundraising campaigns and corporate sponsorships. Responsible for finding new sponsors for the organization, developing and maintaining relationships with sponsors, and collaborating with the VP of Finance in developing fundraising programs for the organization. VP of Fundraising is also responsible for building relationships with local companies to obtain donations and discounts on food and supplies (i.e. in-kind donations).
Vice President of Programming
The duties of the VP of Programming shall be to create and schedule a diverse speaker line-up of successful business people to speak at every meeting on various topics. Responsible for creating and maintain a relationship with these speakers, meeting with them. VP of Programming is also responsible for obtaining speaker gifts and thank you notes, getting parking passes for the speakers and following up with them.
Vice President of Membership
The duties of the VP of Membership shall be to recruit potential members, provide AMA collegiate membership application to all potential members, schedule tabling during rush week of each semester, send in membership forms along with one check obtained from the VP of Finance, and keep an up to date roster of AMA members. Other duties include renewing and contacting members needing to renew, as well as setting up bridge memberships for those members graduating.
Vice President of Communication
The duties of the VP of Communication shall be to perform the duties of record keeping, correspondence between all AMA members in relation to upcoming events, and all vital information concerning club activities. Additional duties include taking roll at all meetings and events and adding new posts to the website.
Vice President of Advertising and Promotions
The duties of the VP of Advertising and Promotions shall be to promote all American Marketing Association events, creating and posting flyers and posters in designated locations, and any other marketing activities deemed necessary to promote the organization. Other duties include updating the AMA scrapbook.
Vice President of Social Events
The duties of the VP of Social Events shall be to create and execute events that will help benefit AMA members and foster a cohesive group. This position is also in charge of planning the beginning and end of the year board member retreats/banquet.
Vice President of Community Service
The duties of the VP of Community Service shall be to create and execute events that will benefit the San Diego State University community, as well as those in need in San Diego County, while working closely with the Center for Student Involvement.
Vice President of Careers and Placement
The duties of the VP of Careers and Placement shall be to maintain the job binder with a variety of up to date job and internship opportunities and working with the VP of Communication and the Webmaster to make these opportunities known to members. Duties also include planning the annual Professional Mixer.
Vice President of Interactive Media/ Webmaster
The duties of the VP of Interactive Media/Webmaster shall be to maintain the AMA website by posting general association information, board member biographies, social and community service events, scheduled speakers, pictures, and job and internship opportunities. Duties also include maintaining the AMA social network accounts, i.e. Facebook and Myspace, as well as assuming the role of acting historian, by documenting all events through photography.
Vice President of Corporate Development
The duties of the Director of Corporate Development shall be to develop a complete marketing plan for a sponsoring company based on their current marketing needs. Responsible for recruiting a dedicated development committee for assistance. The plan will include a fully developed plan, presentation, and examples of ways they can help this company.
Vice President of Community Development
The duties of the Director of Community Development shall be to develop a complete marketing plan for a non-profit company based on their current marketing needs. Responsible for recruiting a dedicated development committee for assistance. The plan will include a fully developed plan, presentation, and examples of ways they can help this company.
Attendance Guidelines for the Executive Board
In order to maintain a position on the San Diego State University American Marketing Association board of directors, board members must meet the following attendance guidelines:
Can miss ONE (1) community service event per semester.
Can miss ONE (1) social event per semester.
Can miss ONE (1) regular meeting per month.
Can miss ONE (1) board member meeting per month.
