Duties of the Executive Board

President

The duties of the President shall be the liaison between the Chapter and faculty advisor as well as between the Chapter and the Association. The President presides at all meetings, prepares and submits the Chapter Plan and Annual Report to the Association, oversees committee and chapter operations, and is the chairperson of the Executive Board. Additional duties include maintaining relationships with other clubs and organizations.


Executive Vice President

The duties of the Executive Vice President shall be to assume the responsibilities of the President in his/her absence at all functions. The Exec VP attends all ABSC meetings unless otherwise appointed by the President due to a scheduling complication. Coordinates the scheduling and booking of events, keeping track of officer reports, and prepares and submits relevant information for the Chapter Plan and Annual Report.


Director of Finance

The duties of the Director of Finance shall be to collect all collegiate chapter dues, donations, and any funds relate to the AMA at San Diego State University while working closely with the Director of Membership, Director of Fundraising, and the President. Other duties include: preparing a chapter budget, monitoring disbursements of funds, keeping record of the collegiate chapter finances, scheduling chapter fundraisers, and preparing the sponsorship letter to be distributed to potential sponsors.


Director of Fundraising

The duties of the Director of Fundraising shall be to generate money by developing fundraising campaigns and corporate sponsorships. Responsible for finding new sponsors for the organization, developing and maintaining relationships with sponsors, and collaborating with the Director of Finance in developing fundraising programs for the organization. Director of Fundraising is also responsible for building relationships with local companies to obtain donations and discounts on food and supplies (i.e. in-kind donations).


Director of Programming

The duties of the Director of Programming shall be to create and schedule a diverse speaker line-up of successful business people to speak at every meeting on various topics. Responsible for creating and maintain a relationship with these speakers, meeting with them. Director of Programming is also responsible for obtaining speaker gifts and thank you notes, getting parking passes for the speakers and following up with them.


Director of Recruitment

The duties of the Director of Membership shall be to recruit potential members, provide AMA collegiate membership application to all potential members, schedule tabling during rush week of each semester, send in membership forms along with one check obtained from the Director of Finance, and keep an up to date roster of AMA members. Other duties include renewing and contacting members needing to renew, as well as setting up bridge memberships for those members graduating.


Director of Careers and Placement

The duties of the Director of Careers and Placement shall be to maintain the job binder with a variety of up to date job and internship opportunities and working with the Director of Communication and the Webmaster to make these opportunities known to members. Duties also include planning the annual Professional Mixer.


Director of Marketing*

The duties of the Director of Marketing shall be to promote all American Marketing Association events, creating and posting flyers and posters in designated locations, creating T-shirt designs, logos, and any other marketing activities deemed necessary to promote the organization. The Director will be responsible for working with all other board members to establish and maintain one uniform branding message to be used for the semester in communication and promotion of AMA. Other duties include updating the AMA scrapbook, and assisting the Director of New Media/Communication in all online design aspects for the website.


Director of Community Relations*

The duties of the Director of Community Relations shall be to develop a marketing strategy and implement it for a sponsoring company or non-profit organization based on their current marketing needs. The Director is responsible for recruiting a dedicated development committee for assistance, utilizing an optimal number of AMA members. In addition, the Director will be responsible for creating and executing events that will benefit the San Diego State University or San Diego County community, working closely with the Center for Student Involvement.


Director of Interactive Media*

The duties of the Director of Interactive Media shall be to perform the duties of record keeping, correspondence between all AMA members in relation to upcoming events, and all vital information concerning club activities. Additionally, the Director is responsible for posting general association information, board member biographies, social and community service events, scheduled speakers, pictures, and job and internship opportunities to the AMA website and social media accounts, including but not limited to www.sdsuama.com, Facebook, and Twitter. They will also assume the role of historian, by documenting all events through photography.


Director of Member Development*

The duties of the Director of Member Development shall be to create and execute events that will help benefit AMA members and foster a cohesive group. In addition, this member will ensure that AMA members stay engaged at meetings and events throughout the semester. This position is also in charge of planning the beginning and end of the year board member retreats/banquet.


Director of Quality Assurance*

This position will be responsible for assisting all other board members with general tasks and planning and executing special events when needed to ensure the highest quality outcome. In addition, this Director will secure refreshments and set up for general meetings and special events.

Reef Surf Company this Tuesday

Hey AMA,



This Tuesday, November 2nd, our meeting will feature Reef Surf Company's Director of Men's Marketing - PJ Connell. PJ is a SDSU alumni who graduated in 2003 with a BA in communications. Prior to working with Reef, he was the Corporate Communication and Events Manager at Rip Curl. We look forward to seeing everyone there!



Also, AMA will be volunteering and then participating at the Vavi Mud Run on November 13th from 12 to 6pm at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. We'll be maintaining the obstacles and helping out the participants. Be on the lookout for more updates within the next week.

Our Professional Mixer is this Tuesday, October 26th at 5:30pm at Aztec Center. We have some great companies lined up ready to hire AMA members for jobs or internships. Additionally, this is a great opportunity for you to network and get a feel for the current career environment. We have an outstanding lineup of employers that includes: Target, Red Door, Walt Disney, and many more. Come professionally dressed to impress with resume in hand. Green Week, Mitch Thrower, & More!

Hey guys.





We are coming up on a very busy week! Monday is the start Greenfest, a festival celebrating and creating awareness of sustainability and Aztec Pride. It is encouraged to get involved as much as possible this week. Check here for a list of all events.





We are also having a very special guest speaker coming to our meeting on Tuesday. Mitch Thrower is the co-founder of one of the fastest growing companies in America - Active.com and also co-founder and CEO of Bump.com. His accomplishments are extensive (and can be seen here).





We will also be having two special presentations at the beginning of our meeting by Apple and AT&T. Because our meeting is going to be busy, we have to start earlier than normal. Please be at The Backdoor no later than 4:45pm.

Hope you enjoyed Johnny's presentation this week. He had some really great points! This week we will be having a job search workshop from career services. Career services is an underutilized resource available for SDSU students located in Student Services East. There will also be a resume building workshop, so bring your resume for pointers!





The membership applications and fees were due yesterday.The good news? We will still be accepting them until next week! The bad news? There will be an additional $5.00 late fee tacked on to the fees due. Visit themembership page for information and to download the application, or to pay online. This week, we will be having Johnny Chan, CMO of eboost, speak at our meeting. It should be a really great perspective for anybody interested in digital marketing, as eboost has guided some of the fastest growing companies, social media projects, and online communities such as Jedidiah, RealAge, and Michael Jordan Steaks. There will also be internship opportunities!!!





Also, don't forget that your membership fees are DUE by March 2nd. There will be a $5.00 late fee for both new and returning members if they pass this deadline.
